DORCHESTER Town will strive for back-to-back wins for the first time this season when the Magpies entertain Merthyr Town at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Tom Killick’s men beat Harrow Borough 2-0 last time out and could lift themselves out of the bottom four by beating promotion contenders Merthyr.

And for Killick, the match has a cyclical nature with his first contest in charge of Dorchester coming in the FA Trophy away to the Martyrs.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: “I just feel there’s a bit of a better feeling in the group having won the game last week.

“With the position we’re in, that result in isolation won’t help us. We need to put a sequence of results together.

“There’s still a lot of importance on getting something from Merthyr to back up the good work at Harrow.

“When you look at current form, the Swindon result was good. They’re probably one of the best on current form, I’d imagine.

“We went away at Gosport and got a draw. As I’ve said before, the opposition is a bit irrelevant. We need to find a way of getting points.

“Undoubtedly, Merthyr are one of the strongest sides. It’s not a fluke being third. It’s not going to be easy but we’ve got a bit of confidence from last week.”

Killick also stressed the importance of maintaining momentum picked up from last week.

“It was a very valuable three points and now we need to build on it,” he said.

“We’ve that additional distance between ourselves and Harrow but it’s still congested in that bottom area. If we can get another three points, things would look a lot more healthy.

“In fact, there would be a chance of getting out of the bottom four which is what we want to have happen sooner rather than later.”

Adam Forster has this week come through surgery on his dislocated shoulder but is out for the season, while Tyrique Clarke is expected to go out on loan to Harrow after being recalled by Weymouth.
