ARTIFEX DRAGONS 21

BUGLERS kept up their challenge for second place in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division with a 33-21 win over Artifex Dragons.

Dragons started strong in the first quarter but Buglers were able to convert some of their interceptions into goals with rhythmical movement in the shooting circle and accurate shots to edge ahead 7-4.

The second and third quarter was also hotly contested but Buglers’ midcourt developed a consistent and strong passing line, increasing their lead to 27-15.

Dragons tried to fight back and reduce the goal difference but Buglers eventually won by 19 goals.

MCCARTHY STONE 41

McCARTHY Stone claimed a 41-25 win over Artifex Krakens but were pushed all the way in their Division One contest

Krakens took an early lead in the first quarter with some great shots from GS Millie Hyde.

Krakens were able to take advantage of some early mistakes made in midcourt, but McCarthy soon found their rhythm and started to find their feet, edging ahead 11-8.

McCarthy held the lead in the second quarter with strong defence from Ellie Maslin denying Krakens some of their opportunities to shoot.

Maslin was also a key player, moving the ball up the court away from Krakens’ goal end and at half-time, McCarthy were ahead 21-16.

The third quarter was much more evenly matched with good defensive play from both teams but a stronger presence from defence in the Krakens’ circle.

McCarthy remained strong and took advantage of forced errors extending their lead and taking a comfortable win.

EXE TRAINING 28

FIRST FIT WINDOWS 23

EXE Training moved ahead of First Fit Windows in the Division One table thanks to a 28-23 victory.

First Fit fought hard despite being a player down with some great initial interceptions setting the team up for three goals in the first five minutes.

Exe C Beth Gore was very strong and fast and controlled the flow of the game, however, speed from First Fit’s GS Ella Stanton helped them nudge 5-4 ahead.

The closely contested match continued into the second quarter with some fast-paced netball and some long passes from First Fit into the GS securing goals.

At 11-11, Exe improved their communication going into the second half with some great determination and accurate passing.

They dominated for the final five minutes of this quarter, turning over and converting interceptions into goals helping them extend the lead to 20-15.

The final quarter was again an even playing field with both teams securing eight goals apiece despite First Fit fighting hard to maintain stamina with C Hayley Stanton using space to her advantage.

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 27

THE closest match of the week went WJNC Waves’ way as they defeated Warmer Home Improvements B 28-27.

Both teams started off with some footwork errors due to quick play, but Waves opened the scoring.

Warmer were quick to respond with accurate shooting from GS Amy Hallet leading to a 5-3 lead.

Warmer started off strong in the second quarter with a turn over and a quick goal from their centre pass. Waves responded with speed and both teams were able to convert their play into goals.

Defence for both teams was strong with some well-timed interceptions finishing with Warmer ahead 14-9 at half-time.

Fresh legs going into the second half saw Waves claw back the goal difference to three with excellent, accurate passes.

Waves appeared to be invigorated going into the final quarter as they fought back before an injury to Hallet helped Waves secure end-to-end goals and secure the narrowest of wins.
