DORCHESTER Town must avoid being “lambs” or risk repeating a poor first half against AFC Totton when the Magpies visit Sholing tomorrow (3pm).

Tom Killick pulled no punches in his assessment of a below-par first half at Totton, after which the Magpies found themselves 2-0 down.

Dorchester battled back courageously from 3-0 and 4-3 behind to eventually claim an incredible point.

The Magpies have now battled back to earn late points in successive games during the 2-2 and 4-4 draws with Hendon and Totton respectively.

Asked if other clubs would now view Dorchester as having a reputation for scrapping until the last kick, Killick told Echosport: “I don’t really care what their perception of us is before the game.

“What I care about is what their perception is of us after the game and in terms of what we put in.

“They’re not going to be interested about what we’ve put into (Totton) it’s all up for grabs again on Saturday.

“There’s no point in showing what we did in the second half and then going out like a load of lambs on Saturday.

“It’s all about re-doing it and repeating the second half. That’s what we’ll be looking to do.”

On the significance of the Sholing game, with the Boatmen two places and two points above them in 15th, Killick added: “Another game of huge magnitude, but that’s going to be the case with every game from now until the end of the season.

“Until we get ourselves clear, that’s the consequence of us allowing ourselves to be in the position we’re in. We just have to face that head on.”

Dorchester are currently injury-free for the trip to The Imperial Homes Stadium.
