WEYMOUTH have announced the extension of versatile centre-back Charlie Rowan’s deal for another season.

Rowan has been an instant hit at the Bob Lucas Stadium after joining the club following his departure from Oxford City last summer.

Rowan spent time on loan at the Terras from the Hoops during the 2022/23 season only to suffer a shoulder injury that required surgery.

After playing just twice in that time, he signed up for a full season under then boss Bobby Wilkinson.

He went on to feature 36 times for Weymouth in the 2023/24 term, scoring twice and assisting two further goals.

His strikes came in the 3-3 thriller with St Albans and in the 3-2 home defeat by Maidstone United.

Were it not for an injury in the penultimate game against Truro, Rowan would have started each of the final 13 matches of the season.

However, he impressed with his flexibility in positioning having started the season at centre-back and graduated to the centre of midfield.

New manager Mark Molesley had already earmarked the ex-Ebbsfleet and Barnet man as a key component in his side during his second tenure.

Rowan is the first player to commit for the 2024/25 season, following the earlier exits of Teddy Howe, Joel Rollinson, Anthony Cheshire and Tyrique Clarke, plus loanees Harvey Wiles-Richards and Harry Parsons.
