WEYMOUTH have agreed an extension to the deal of captain Tom Bearwish for the 2024/25 season.

Bearwish's contract was up for renewal this summer after he signed an extension in March 2023.

Dorset product Bearwish will enter his fourth season at the Bob Lucas Stadium, having joined the Terras in summer 2021.

He has amassed 135 appearances, scored 19 goals and recorded 13 assists during his three campaigns.

In a club statement, Weymouth said: "We are delighted to confirm the extension of Tom Bearwish’s contract, keeping the midfielder at The Bob Lucas until June 2025.

"Tom has become a vital part of the team. As a local lad and captain of the side he encompasses everything that makes Weymouth Football Club what it is.

"Having a representative from our local community lead the side out week on week has played a key role in uniting our support.

"We are pleased to secure the signature of our captain for a further year as we look to continue our efforts to move the club forward.”

This season, Bearwish finished third in the Terras’ goalscoring charts with eight strikes behind joint Golden Boot winners Ezio Touray and Brandon Goodship.

Only Goodship (12) and Teddy Howe (8) beat his tally of seven assists.

Bearwish has significant experience despite being only 24 years old.

As a teenager, he rose through the ranks at Portland United before being picked up by Eastleigh, where he played as a striker.

Bearwish also enjoyed a loan spell with Dorchester Town before graduating to National League level with Eastleigh and then Weymouth.

He becomes the second player to commit to Weymouth after Charlie Rowan.
