DORCHESTER Town Raiders Under-13s are today taking part in a football marathon to raise money for a grand tournament next year.

They have also set up a JustGiving page, which will continue to run following the event at Broadmayne Playing Field from 8am to 8pm.

Currently, more than £600 has been raised on the page alone.

The young Magpies are aiming to raise a total sum of £2,500 to fund the cost of participating in the tournament next May, in Weston-super-Mare.

Raiders, who have a 20-player squad, have already secured numerous individual sponsorships and a donation from Currys Dorchester.

Even when players take a rest from matches on the day, they will engage in football quizzes to ensure no second of the 12 hours is wasted.

Among the events in store for the footballing bonanza are football golf, coaching the coaches, friendlies against their parents and Sherborne, a barbecue, a top-bins challenge, a raffle, a bouncy castle, food stalls, glitter tattoos, face painting and a mystery guest former Dorchester Town player.

Following the 12 hours of football, the Raiders are organising a comedy night at the Corn Exchange on Saturday, September 14 to raise further cash for the tour.

Raiders will continue to generate money in the next two years, too, with the aim of entering and travelling to a European competition during the 2026/27 season.

All are welcome to attend the football marathon. Should you not be able to attend, the Raiders’ Just Giving link is here.
