STRIKER Stuart Beavon was always confident Weymouth would end their winless streak sooner rather than later.

Prior to Saturday's 3-2 win at North-wich Victoria the Terras had failed to register a victory in their previous seven games despite putting on some encouraging performances.

Beavon said: "Before Saturday we had been playing well but not getting the results that we perhaps deserved.

"At Northwich that changed. We got that bit of luck we have been waiting for and now hopefully we will gain some confidence from that and take it into the next couple of games."

The Terras went 2-1 down before Beavon made his return from injury by coming off the bench and levelling with a penalty on 81 minutes before James Coutts grabbed a spectacular winner in added time.

Beavon added: "The amount of times this year we have gone behind and comeback has been unbelievable and that is a testament to the character and fitness of the lads.

"We have a lot of fight in us and with the league being so tight at the moment we are determined to continue moving back up the table.

"It is not nice when you are not winning games but although we went through that seven-game run without a victory everyone has stayed focus and kept working hard.

"We have a good bunch of lads here, who all get on with each other, and we know that we can be more than a match for anyone. It's just about putting your chances away when you are on top. We did that last Saturday and now we need to carry that on.

"We have been creating loads of opportunities recently and that is why we were so confident things would eventually turn for us. It is when you are not making openings that you need to begin to worry."

When asked about his fitness, Beavon said: "I tweaked the medial ligament in my knee and I just needed to be a bit careful with it.

"I really wanted to play in the Crawley game but I was just not right. I then trained last Thursday and Friday and felt good, and it was great to come on and score the penalty on Saturday. Now my aim is to continue working hard and try and win a place back in the team."
