NEW men's captain Andy Stiles believes Weymouth's Hampshire League Division One curtain-raiser at Hasle-mere on Saturday (2pm) could be their "most difficult" game of the season.

The Seasiders go into the clash buoyant following last weekend's 9-2 HA Vase first round success at Harrow.

But now attentions turn to the league season where Stiles is hoping his side can repeat, or better, last term's fourth-placed finish.

He said: "We've got a couple of new players but the majority of the squad is made up of the youth policy we have that is paying off.

"We put a lot of young guys into the team a couple of years ago. It was a big risk at the time but now they're a bit older it's paying off.

"We finished fourth last year but because next season the league will be restructured we need to finish as high as we can. I'd also like to see us have a good cup run as well.

"I was pleased with everyone at Harrow, we worked harder than the opposition to get that result."

Should Weymouth be unfortunate to lose Saturday's clash, Stiles will not be getting downbeat. He added: "It's potentially our most difficult game of the season as it's a long trip and they're a good side. If we win it's a great start but if we don't then it's just one game."

Stiles is also enjoying his new role as skipper. He said: "There's a good bunch of guys at the club so it's not difficult for me."

Weymouth have been handed a home tie with Basingstoke in the next round of the Vase, to be played on Sunday, October 27.
