GARY Bowles has returned to training and is available for selection tomorrow when Dorchester Town travel to Maidenhead United (3pm).

The defender has missed the last two games with an Achilles injury, including Wednesday night's FA Cup second qualifying round replay win at Newport County, but is in contention to make his 40th appearance for the club.

County town manager Shaun Brooks said: "Gary will be available. He took part in some light training this week so he'll be available for Saturday.

"Other than that we came through Wednesday night okay, all the substitutions we made were done for tactical reasons."

Bowles though, will have to oust either Patrece Liburd or Kevin Hill if he is to come straight back into the heart of the defence.

Of the duo's display on Wednesday, Brooks added: "There were a couple of mistakes in the first half but they stuck to their guns. In the end they stood up and were counted by putting their bodies on the line and blocking plenty of shots."

Brooks is hoping that the midweek cup success can lead his side to their first Blue Square South win since the opening day when they visit York Road tomorrow.

The 2-1 victory in Wales was the Magpies' first success in all competitions since a 1-0 win at Braintree Town on August 9, which is so far Dorchester's only triumph in the league.

And Brooks is keen to see his side continue from where they left off at the Newport Stadium, where Nick Crittenden's double earned them a home tie with Gosport Borough in the next round.

He added: "The second win has been a long time coming since the opening day of the season and hopefully we'll build on Wednesday night's result.

"We'll look to put in a good performance at Maidenhead, get three points and hopefully get back into the top half of the table.

"We've been 2-0 up against Team Bath, who are second, and we've beaten Braintree away who were in the play-offs the past two seasons.

"That proves we can compete against the top sides, but what we need to do is to play our own game.

"We're not a big and physical side so we need to impose our own style of play."

Tomorrow though, Dorchester will have to contain last season's FA Cup heroes Rocky Baptiste, after he signed from Havant & Waterlooville this week, and Richard Pacquette, who scored the opening goal at Liverpool in the Hawks' 5-2 fourth round defeat.
