WEYMOUTH defender Scott Doe does not see his recent transfer listing "as a big deal" and remains as determined as ever to help the Terras move further up the Blue Square Premier table.

Doe was voted player of the year last season and that is why many fans have been left bewildered by the thought of his potential exit but the 19-year-old does not think the decision is a cause for concern.

He said: "I do not see it as a big deal. It's not like the club has said to me we are putting you on the transfer list because we do not want you anymore.' "The reason it has been done is for the club and for me. I want to stay here and they want me to stay too but if there is a team out there willing to pay a bit of money and who would provide a bigger move for me then it could benefit both parties.

"We are just speculating and will just have to see if there is anything. Meanwhile, I will continue giving my all for the club to help us move further up the table."

Doe suffered a gash to the face in Saturday's 3-2 win at Northwich Victoria, a victory that ended a winless streak of seven games.

He added: "Since the 5-2 home defeat against Histon we have played really well but not always got that little bit of luck.

"On Saturday we again tried our hardest to throw it away but in the end we came through and won it which was very pleasing.

"James Coutts' goal in the last minute was unbelievable and although it was not the best of games I felt we deserved to come out on top, particularly after the two previous matches when we were unfortunate to come away with just a point.

"As for the cut on my face, it was caused by Richard Barnard's boot while we were attempting to clear some danger in the box after just ten minutes.

"I went off and needed a couple of stitches but there was no doctor to put them in so they put a strip across it until half-time when it was eventually stitched up."

Doe now wants last Saturday's win to act as a springboard for a run of good form. Tomorrow his side will host Eastbourne Borough, who are two points below the Terras in 18th spot.

Doe said: "The league is so tight at the moment. I mean had we lost last Saturday and other results gone against us we could have dropped into the bottom four but now we find ourselves just five points off the play-offs.

"The important thing now is that we continue from where we left off at Northwich and follow it up with a win at home against Eastbourne in front of our own fans, which is something we really need. We played them last season in the FA Cup and it proved to be a good game for us with Stuart Beavon getting a hat-trick in a 4-0 win.

"However, Eastbourne have not come up for no reason and will certainly be no pushovers. They have had a few decent results and will provide us with a tough test but it is a game we must be looking to win."

Adam Bygrave is back in contention after recovering from a knee problem but Santos Gaia and Lewis Ironside are both sidelined.

Terras' boss John Hollins said: "Adam is back doing everything now but Santos is still missing. The only other player out is Lewis with a tight thigh.

"Eastbourne have had a couple of good results and a couple of poor ones but like everything you just cannot write people off. We will be aiming for the three points but they will no doubt be going all out for the same so we will have to play well and put our chances away when they come along."
