WEYMOUTH chairman Ian Ridley is adamant that the Terras have enough quality in their ranks to keep their heads above water in the Blue Square Premier.

The Wessex Stadium outfit have lost their last 10 games and sit just two points above the drop-zone but with Marcus Browning having returned to action and Stephen Reed back in the frame following the completion of a five-match suspension, Ridley is optimistic ahead of a crucial couple of weeks.

He said: “From what I understand the lads gave a better account of themselves at Eastbourne Borough on Saturday where there were signs of improvement.

“I think we have a decent enough group of players now it is just a question of collecting the points that we need.

“We have got to find a goal and a result from somewhere and the forthcoming weekend offers us a big chance to do that with a trip to bottom of the league Lewes on Saturday and a home game against Forest Green Rovers on Monday.”

The Terras have not found the net in nearly 10 hours of football and have conceded 39 goals in their last 10 games but Ridley remains hopeful that a change of fortunes is on its way.

He added: “We need to get a bit of a buzz back around the place. It needs a bit of a spark and a lift, and once we get a goal, a point or a result I think we will be okay.

“Stephen Reed returns from suspension this week and is a big player for us, and with Marcus Browning also back playing now I think the players we have are good enough.

“Marcus has been a quality player throughout his career. In fact I can remember seeing him play for Bristol Rovers 17 years ago when Malcolm Allison took over there and that is the type of wise head that we need. Those are the players that you look to, to help pull the team through.

Monday’s game against Forest Green will also be a big day for the club off the pitch.

Ridley said: “We will be launching a share sale at the Forest Green game and there will be more details coming out about that later in the week.

“We are still in a dodgy position financially and we are doing all we can to pay the bills so we do not get closed down, while also paying the players to keep us in the league.

“And it is imperative that we stay up. If we go down our revenue will go down by £100,000. Also, it has taken the club a long time to get into the Conference and we do not want to give that up lightly.”
