WEYMOUTH Under-18s’ boss Tim Davis believes his side’s South West Counties Youth League triumph proves the club has some “quality young players”.

The Terras wrapped up the Divison Two title at the Wessex Stadium when they claimed a 1-1 draw against rivals Dorchester Town.

Ben Reiffer opened the scoring in the third minute with a fine volley but the hosts then failed to build on that early breakthrough allowing the Magpies to level through Ryan Chance.

That set up a nervy second half and in the dying minutes Town nearly spoiled the party when substitute Lewis Trevett struck the bar from 20 yards out.

Davis was elated when final whistle blew and he was full of admiration for his players. He said: “I am so proud of each and every one of them for the way they have applied themselves this season.

“It is a tremendous achievement for the club to win the South West Counties Youth League and shows that we have some quality young players.

“I would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Magpies’ management team of Phil Basford, Robbie Taylor and Adrian Chance and the Dorchester players who played extremely well.

“The game was a great spectacle for the league and both teams deserve a lot of credit for putting on such a good show.”

Several of Davis’ men have supplemented the first-team this season, including Joe Prodomo, Jordan Vincent, Jamie Frampton, Shola Dadson, Tom Richardson, Ben Reiffer, Ollie Tribe, Callum Robins, Bostry Bansende, Sam Poole, Charlie Tubbs, Terngu Agera and Ryan McKechnie.
