FORMER St Albans City midfielder Hector Mackie has become the latest recruit to join Weymouth’s rebuilding process.

The 21-year-old, who has also had spells at Stevenage Borough and Welling United, finished last season with Potters Bar Town and becomes Matty Hale’s seventh signing since taking charge of the Terras.

Hale said: “Hector is a powerful midfield player who predominantly plays in the centre although he is capable of playing in other positions as well.

“He is a big, strong lad and I am delighted to have him on board as I am sure he will prove a very useful addition.

“Things are really beginning to come together now. We know we have still got to sign a few more and that is something we are continuing to work on but at least the squad is now starting to take shape.

“A lot of players’ names have been handed to me and we will be looking at a lot of different options throughout pre-season in the form of trialists, although I do hope to get one or two more in before then during the next week or so.”

Hale’s other new acquisitions include Dean Grubb, Andy Harris, Dean Smith, Ryan Har-rison, Matt Thorne and Kyle Critchell.
