SKIPPER Jim Ryall and his predecessor Dave Trotter will boost Weymouth’s ranks for tomorrow’s trip to basement boys Suttoners in the Dorset Premier League (1.30pm).

Ryall returns following a two-match suspension while Trotter will make his first appearance in the senior side since stepping down from the captain’s role. Ryall said: “It is good to see Trots back in there. He has been champing at the bit to show what he can do and hopefully he can help us get some points under our belts.”

The Seasiders have lost their last four games in the county’s top-flight and with a high-profile local derby game against Dorchester at Redlands to come on August 22, Ryall is looking for an improved performance.

He added: “Everyone will want to be involved in the Dorchester game but first we have to make sure we beat Suttoners and get some confidence back.

“Suttoners are bottom of the league but no games are easy at this level so we will have to make sure we are ready.

“There are only three games left now and with our seconds and thirds both up there in their respective leagues challenging for promotion, it is important we finish as strong as possible to ensure what could be a great end to the season for the club.”

Ryall and Trotter will replace Paul Payne and Matt Lawes, who will both drop down to the seconds, as they are unable to travel away from home this week.

Top-order batsman Tom England will also come in for Will McKay.

Weymouth: Ryall, Womble, Fitzgerald, England, Janaway, Fulton, Ulhaq, Whyte, Trotter, Nobbs, Hutchens.

* Weymouth Seconds skipper John Ryan reckons two more wins should be enough to see his side secure promotion in Dorset League Division Two.

The Seasiders will make five changes for the visit of Swanage to Redlands tomorrow (2pm) as they look to get back on track following defeat against Branksome.

Ryan said: “Two more wins should be enough for us to secure promotion but with a difficult game against Wimborne & Colehill on the last day, it is important we do not have anymore slip ups.”

First-team regular Paul Payne will be a surprise inclusion in Ryan’s line-up, which will also include Matt Lawes, Andy Jarvis, Ben Ladd-Gibbon and Will McKay.

Michael Pearce, Hugh Lawes and Gavin Lamb are all unavailable while Dave Trotter has been promoted to the first team. Cameron Armfield has dropped to the thirds.

Weymouth Seconds: Ryan, McKay, Jarvis, Almond, Mote, Mitchem, Doidge, B Ladd-Gibbon, Payne, Crocker, M Lawes.

* Weymouth Thirds will host Winton Sports Seconds tomorrow in Dorset League Division Five (2pm).
