CHICKERELL United manager Brendan King believes tomorrow’s opponents Parley Sports will cause a few surprises this season.

The Chickens welcome Parley to Weymouth College as the new Dorset Premier League season gets underway (3pm).

Although King admits he is not too familiar with tomorrow’s visitors, who were promoted as champions of the Dorset Senior League last season, he is confident that his side can pick up three points and start the campaign in style.

He said: “Parley are a bit of an unknown quantity. They have just secured promotion last year so they will be on a high. I did see them play last year against Weymouth Sports and I will be having a word with Steve Alcock, their manager, to see what he says about them.

“What I know is they’re quite young. They like to get the ball down and play which will suit us but they will give a few teams a big surprise.

“They like to go forward and they like to play so I see no reason why they would come here and be defensive. They probably believe they have a chance to win.

“I want us to put on a nice solid performance, do the right things and get into good habits because this league is going to be very competitive this year.

“I expect a lot of teams to take points of each other. and I can see there being five or six teams challenging for the league this year rather than just one or two.”

Striker Liam Beads has a slight knock but trained in midweek and is rated 50/50.
