WEYMOUTH reserve-team boss Dave Kiteley is backing his side to take their impressive pre-season form into tomorrow’s Dorset Premier League opener at Hamworthy United Reserves (3pm).

The Terras completed their warm-up campaign with a 5-0 win at Weymouth Sports on Wednesday night and Kiteley continues to be enthused by their stylish performances.

He said: “We knocked the ball around and could have scored more so overall it is looking positive.

“The Bristol lads, like Nathan Loader and Jordan Metters, have impressed me with their attitudes and the half-a-dozen players from last year’s Under-18s have also been excellent.

“The reserve team is all about developing players and already we have seen Ben Reiffer included in the first-team squad for the first couple of games. “That proves with hard work the rewards are there and I am sure a lot of the other lads will also get opportunities because at the end of the day they are the future of the club.”

Carl Foster, who has been signed on non-contract terms, netted a hat-trick for the Terras against Sports with their other goals coming from trialist Chris Lea and Under-18s striker Matt Morley.

Weymouth also fielded two other trialists in the encounter in forward Jake Reid and Guildford-based midfielder Abdu.

Kiteley added: “Carl has done well and we will be looking at him over the next month or so. Jake Reid also looked good and is a big presence who can hold the ball up well while Abdu could feature again tomorrow at Hamworthy.”

First-team boss Matty Hale also played 65 minutes in the clash and according to Kiteley, he was impressed with what he witnessed.

He said: “Matty had a word with the lads afterwards and I think he was happy with what he saw but they still have a bit to learn.

“In pre-season we have knocked the ball around well but at the likes of Poole Borough and Swanage we will not be allowed to do that. It will be a learning curve for them but I am confident the lads can adapt.”
