WILDCATS’ skipper James Cockle faces a late fitness test ahead of tonight’s National League meeting with King’s Lynn (7.15pm).

Cockle suffered knocks to both his knee and ankle in Tuesday night’s suprise defeat at the Isle of Wight Islanders and is still suffering.

But team manager Jem Dicken is hopeful that his number one rider will line-up at the Wessex Bus Raceway this evening.

He said: “James will have a late fitness test. He has an ankle injury and a knee injury but is pretty resilient and if he is able to ride then he will.

“Mark Burrows also took a knock on Tuesday but he’s alright.”

Looking ahead to tonight’s meeting, Dicken has no doubts that the Wildcats will see off the Barracudas’ challenge.

He added: “Without a doubt we will beat King’s Lynn. I am quite confident that no-one will be able to beat us at home. “It was a bit of a setback on Tuesday but we know where we lost it – the injuries. We are still confident that we will finish in the play-offs and we are still confident that we will finish above Bournemouth at the top and go on to win the play-offs.”

The Wildcats have picked up maximum points from their six home meetings this season but the last contest between the two sides, at the Norfolk Arena, saw the Barracudas narrowly win 46-44.

Wildcats: Cockle, Day, Wright, Compton, Burrows, Webster, White-Williams.
