WEYMOUTH manager Matty Hale has called for a positive response from his players ahead of tomorrow’s Blue Square South clash against Bishop’s Stortford at the Wessex Stadium (3pm).

The 30-year-old is hoping that Tuesday night’s 5-0 debacle against Eastleigh was just a ‘freak result’ and that his men will come out fighting and determined to put the record straight.

Hale said: “We have got to have the courage to pass the ball. Against Eastleigh we looked solid for the first 40 minutes but as the game went on we became more and more nervous. Hopefully that was just a freak result and we can come out tomorrow and put in a much better performance.

“We have worked in training on our shape and attacking play, and if we apply that right then I am sure we can get a result against Bishop’s Stortford, who I am sure will be another difficult proposition.”

Ex-Yate Town and Mangotsfield United striker Jake Reid could be included in tomorrow’s squad after impressing Hale for the club’s reserve team in Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Weymouth Sports.

Hale added: “Jake trained with us last night and he could well be involved tomorrow as could Joe Arnold and Matt Groves, who both missed the Eastleigh game through injury and illness respectively.

“We are also looking to get a midfielder in on loan following the injuries to Dean Smith and Hector Mackie. Dean came off on Tuesday and is likely to be out for at least two to three weeks with a hamstring problem that seems to be linked with his back.”

Meanwhile, Carl Foster has been signed on non-contract terms but will continue to turn out for the reserves. Hale said: “We want to take an extended look at Carl in the Dorset Premier League.”

Like the Terras, Bishop’s Stortford have claimed just one point from their opening two games following a 0-0 draw with Newport County and a 2-0 loss at Dover.
