DORCHESTER’S Annette Hallett has achieved national recognition after being offered an England Senior International trial.

Hallett, who became the National Champion of Champions last season, has performed consistently over many years, having reached the national finals in all the major events during that time.

She joins two fellow Atherley players – Julie Saunders (Bournemouth) and Elizabeth Messer (East Dorset) – for the trial at Bromsgrove on Sunday, December 6, and she hopes she will follow the same path as Saunders and Messer, who have already made it into the England squad.

If selected, Hallett would then be invited to a practice game on December 12 in preparation for the Home International Series, which will take place in Scotland next March.

Having joined the Dorchester Indoor Bowls Club as a founder member in 1990, Hallett was awarded life membership of the club earlier this year in recognition of her achievements during her illustrious career.

Should Hallett impress the England selectors, that long held ambition of wearing an England International shirt may be finally realised.
