JAMIE Symes returns to Bridport colours for tonight’s Toolstation Western League Division One trip to embattled Minehead (7.45pm).

The versatile midfielder signed dual registration forms with Dorchester Town a fortnight ago and was an unused substitute in their victory over Maidenhead United.

However, an agreement has been struck with Magpies’ chief Roy O’Brien and Symes will occupy a place on the bench as the Bees bid to secure back-to-back victories.

Boss Trevor Senior expressed his delight at having the talented teenager at his disposal once more, boosting the numbers in his injury-ravaged squad.

He told the Echo: “The decision for Jamie to come back to us for a while was his but I spoke to Roy O’Brien about it too and he was okay with it.

“Jamie’s had a taste of life there and will still continue to train with Dorchester, but he wants to play first-team football and I’m happy he’s with us.”

Senior will name an unchanged side tonight as reward for the electrifying victory over high-riding Odd Down at St Mary’s Field on Saturday.

Whereas Bridport appear to be on an upward curve, Minehead have recorded just one win all season, a 2-0 triumph at home to fellow strugglers Chard Town on October 10.

That solitary maximum haul is sandwiched between five defeats that leave the Somerset outfit with a mere seven points from 14 outings.

Despite being perennial basement boys, Minehead illustrated their potential by snatching a deserved draw against the Bees in the reverse fixture back in August.

But Senior has his sights fixed on three points at the Recreation Ground, which would close the deficit on a phalanx of teams over whom they hold several games in hand.

Of Minehead, he added: “I’m surprised they are down where they are because I thought they were quite lively against us and caused us as many problems as anybody has done.

“I don’t think they have lost games by large margins. They are a young side and quite enthusiastic so it will be a tough game for us.

“If we can get a win there it could push us up a couple of places. Then we have got three home games on the trot.”

Ryan Hayter will continue to deputise for injured skipper Darren Lock, who is still laid low by a knee injury picked up against Bradford Town last month.
