THE Wildcats’ woes continue with the news that Wessex Raceway favourite Terry Day could be sidelined for another month.

The number two rider has been out of action since suffering severe concussion in a horror smash during the 49-41 Knockout Cup defeat to the Newport Hornets on May 28.

And team manager Jem Dicken, whose side sit rock-bottom in the National League, has revealed that the 25-year-old may be out for at least a further four weeks.

He said: “Terry could be out for four or five weeks as he’s still feeling ill now. He’s getting better but head injuries aren’t good and it came at a bad time as he was in form.

“It’s unfortunate for him and it’s unfortunate for the team as we are struggling in his absence.

“He went back into hospital last week for a scan, he’s been given the all-clear but it’s the process of letting his senses come back to him I suppose.

“It’s disappointing he won’t be back for a while but having said that he might feel fine next week – we’ll just have to wait and see. Terry will know when he’s fit and ready to go.”

The Wildcats are also having to make do without their regular number one – Byron Bekker.

The South African, currently nursing a back injury, went for a MRI scan on Friday evening and is now awaiting the results.

Dicken added: “I don’t know how long Byron’s going to be out for right now. He’s had a MRI scan on his back but his physio reckons he’s possibly got problems with his vertebrae so if that’s the case we might have to look for a replacement.”

Next up for the Cats is a trip to rivals Plymouth on Friday night.

Dicken added: “We’ve got to try and bounce back and win at Plymouth on Friday. They’ve had a tough time of late so maybe that’ll be a recipe for a good meeting.”
