BRITANNIA will have to negotiate a huge roadblock tomorrow if they are to stand a chance of chasing down Rendezvous at the top of the Weymouth Sunday League Premiership.

Tuatara have been in outstanding form of late and are unbeaten in their last seven games, so an intriguing contest lies in prospect at the Piggery (10.30am) where the Portlanders will desperately be hoping to gain some ground.

Rendezvous, who are not in action this weekend, are currently seven points clear of the fifth-placed Brit. But with a game in-hand on the table-toppers, tomorrow’s encounter is a huge opportunity for George Eley’s men to really turn up the pressure.

However, having drawn 3-3 with the T-Bar earlier in the season, the islanders will be in for a tough morning, particularly with the Market Street outfit targeting a top-three finish of their own.

Tuatara currently sit fourth, having played more games than any of their top-five rivals but victory over the Brit and another win against reigning champions the Rodwell on January 23, and Chris Meadows and Charlie Kenderdine could see their side move back on to the cusp of the title race.

Unfortunately for the T-Bar, they will be without star striker Tom Grattidge tomorrow as he is on holiday. Kenderdine is also a major injury doubt.

Meanwhile, in the Championship, runaway leaders Quayside will come up against a stern test at the Marsh in the form of SAS FC.

The clash will be a huge marker of just how far SAS have come since losing 2-0 against the table-toppers back on September 19.

Since that defeat, Danny Sanders’ men have gone nine unbeaten in the league and would no doubt love to add the huge scalp of the leaders to the list of seven victims they have toppled during that period.

Quayside will be without Adam Anstey, Stuart Crane, Tony and Chris Wyatt, and Rob Maxted but hope to welcome back Zac Chennit and Dan McDonald.
