DORSET will need to produce the goods with the bat today if they are to stand a chance of beating Oxfordshire at Dean Park in the Minor Counties Western Division.
The three-day game began yesterday with the visitors racking up a fine first innings tally of 329-8 after winning the toss.
The hosts reduced the visitors to 23-4 at one stage thanks to superb opening spells from James Hayman (3-42) and Mark Wolstenholme (1-65).
However, a fifth-wicket stand of 215 between James Perkin (122) and Jonny Carter (98) soon turned the tables.
In reply, Aaron Williams (16 not out) and George Adolphus (9 not out) survived late pressure in the day to ensure Dorset kept all their wickets in tact (28-0) but the hosts will need far more of the same today if they are to switch the pressure back on to their opponents.
