BRIDPORT’S Stephen Wiltshire set a new record while on international duty.

The Dorset Disabled Cricket Club member, who travelled to Newport, South Wales with five other team-mates, smashed an unbeaten 105 off just 46 balls to record the first-ever century in limited overs cricket.

Wiltshire notched 10 sixes and 10 fours as England reached 177-2 in 18 overs.

England captain Dave Hassell then declared due to the bad weather.

Wales were on 16-2 after four overs when the heavens opened, and only one more over was completed with the hosts adding just a single run and the visitors taking three further wickets.

The game was decided in England’s favour as they had racked up a higher total after five overs.

That clash, which also featured Dorchester’s Callum Tucker, was preceded by another enco-unter.

The morning match though, in which Mark Pickersgill, Tom Grif-fiths, Simon Penny and Michael Chant flew the Dorset flag, was won by Wales.

Batting first, England made 86-2 off 20 overs but the home side surpassed that total after 14 overs, scoring 89.

The day ended with a medal ceremony.
