WEYMOUTH Waves Cheerleaders are expanding their squad and now have a younger group for boys and girls aged 10 years and above.

Head coach Natasha Wood said: “Cheerleading is a fast growing sport in the UK with competitions all over the country and we are planning on taking the whole squad to our first competition in February 2012.

“I’ve both participated and coached cheerleading since 1999 and have seen so many individuals develop co-ordination skills, develop confidence, make new friends and above all keep fit whilst having fun.

“Cheerleading includes cheering, dancing, tumbling, jumping and stunting. It involves masses of teamwork and it is something different to other sports that children learn at school or can participate in around the area.

“We will be training on Tuesdays in Weymouth and if anyone is interested get in touch with myself on 07760426896 or assistant coach Felicity Ayles on 07887484472.

“We’re aiming to start the new group in August and there is no previous experience needed as everyone will be taught by qualified coaches.

“There won’t be any tryouts as the squad is somewhere to come and have fun, learn something new and aim for competition.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor the club can do so by contacting Wood on the above number.
