DESPITE admitting his men “made hard work” of Saturday’s FA Trophy triumph, manager Brendon King was delighted to see the Terras exact revenge.

Having been dumped out of the FA Cup by AFC Totton in controversial circumstances the previous weekend, Weymouth were determined to set the record straight when the two sides locked horns at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Warren Byerley’s brace and a single effort from Sam Malsom, all inside the opening 12 minutes, set the hosts on their way and although the visitors pulled two goals back, it was the Terras who came out on top.

King, whose side host Oxford City in league action tomorrow night, said: “We felt we had some unfinished business and the boys were right up for it. We didn’t have to give much of a team talk as last week said it all.

“We wanted to put on a good performance for the fans and I felt we did at times. We made hard work of it, especially after going into a 3-0 lead as early as we did.

“We could have made it four as we had one cleared off the line. A couple of the lads said it was in but it wasn’t given and we went down the other end and gave away a sloppy penalty, which gave them a sniff.

“We started off brilliantly and in the first 20 minutes everything we had been talking about came to fruition.

“Then we got a bit sloppy and perhaps at 3-0 we thought it was game over. But we had a chat at half-time as we knew they would come out and have a good go, but again we had a good chance to get a fourth but hit the bar.

“They then went straight up the other end and made it 3-2 and all of a sudden it’s twitchy bum time. But we held out and had a couple more chances, so all in all it was a good performance and a good result.”
