ELLINGHAM & RINGWOOD II 0 WEYMOUTH 39 WEYMOUTH made it five wins from five in Dorset & Wilts One South with a convincing victory at lowly Ellingham & Ringwood.

Harry Charles ran in two tries for the Monmouth Avenue outfit while Max Vallance, Jonathan Mason, Sam Morris, Ben MacConnachie and Simon Dean also crossed the whitewash.

The visitors’ tally was completed by two conversions from Nick Shepherd and with a number of key personnel missing the clash, including skipper Julian Quick, head coach Paul Harding was delighted to see his side maintain their unbeaten record.

He said: “It was a good win, achieved through the forwards more so this week, which was pleasing.

“It was good to see our front five really step up to the plate at the weekend. Ellingham made life a bit difficult for us to begin with but towards the end of the first half, and at the start of the second, our front five really upped their game.

“We pounded Ellingham for 20 minutes and it set the platform for us to really put some points on the board.

“That’s five wins out five in the league and to be without some key players and still maintain the momentum is great.

“Winning is a great habit to get into and there is a really good buzz around the place, it’s just a case of maintaining what we are doing.”

The only negative to come out of Saturday’s encounter was an injury to George Carter.

Harding, whose side host leaders Swanage & Wareham Seconds this weekend, added: “We lost George early on to a shoulder injury and he ended up going to hospital. We’re still waiting for the final diagnosis so he’ll probably be out for a little while. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as first expected.”
