BRIDPORT will be out to set the record straight this evening when they welcome Wells City to St Mary’s Field (7.45pm).

The two sides have already met this season in the Toolstation Western Premier Division, with the Somerset outfit hitting the Bees for six.

Boss Trevor Senior labelled the 6-2 loss at the end of August as a “learning curve” and he is hopeful his men can exact revenge tonight – despite seeing them exit the FA Vase on Saturday.

He said: “We lost 6-2 at their place even though it was 2-2 at half-time and we had twice led. We made a few mistakes in the second half and they punished us.

“We know their strengths and they are a well organised side when they get in front.

“I know I sound like a broken record but apart from the Horndean game, we have been competitive in every game, we’ve just not quite got the results we perhaps deserved.

“They all did well on Saturday and it will come right. We will get some points on the board.

“We gave a good account of ourselves and with a bit of luck we would have come away with a victory.

“The lads should be upbeat. I’m not trying to paper over the cracks as I don’t feel there are any, we are just not winning games.

“Saturday was a good performance and everyone carried out their jobs and can be pleased with their day’s work. We were simply beaten by two good finishes.”

Dan Peart (back) is doubtful for tonight’s clash while Adam Symes and Chris Clarke are both unavailable.

However, defender Chris Senior should overcome a slight knock.

His father added: “He came off with about 10 minutes to go on Saturday as he got caught on the foot, but he should be okay.

“Dan hurt his back playing for his college last Wednesday and he was an unused sub on Saturday. He will be doubtful tonight as he needs to make sure his back is right.”
