Under-12 Division Three

CORFE MULLEN 5 WEYMOUTH WARRIORS 4

CORFE Mullen welcomed the Weymouth Warriors to their ground, which boasted a full-size pitch with adult goals, dwarfing the two keepers and looking promising for the strikers.

Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the first goal to arrive, and although the Warriors dominated early on, Corfe found the roof of the net after being awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box.

Weymouth then responded in kind with George Chapman netting twice to overturn the deficit.

Both teams battled well for possession and plenty of chances were created as a result, before both sides added to the scoreline to make it 3-2 – Callum Walters capitalising for the Warriors.

Corfe came out firing in the second half and the Warriors were caught out on a couple occasions, resulting in the hosts going 4-3 in front.

Weymouth, however, were not to be denied and Harry brought the scores level with 10 minutes to play.

By this point the game was end to end and although Declan Hutton Candy and Morgan Harmer tried their luck, the home keeper was equal to the shots.

Those saves proved crucial as Corfe grabbed the winning goal in the dying moments.

The Warriors meanwhile, thanked Bruce Garrod for supplying their new kit and Susan Miller for arranging a morning’s activities of zip lines and quad bikes.
