BOSS Ashley Vickers took full responsibility for last night’s capitulation at the hands of Havant & Waterlooville.
The Magpies led 2-0 at the break courtesy of first-half goals from Gary Bowles and Ben Dickenson.
But the tables turned dramatically in the second period with the Hawks finding the net on four occasions to complete a remarkable comeback.
Vickers, who saw his side suffer a third straight defeat in Blue Square Bet South, said: “The first half was exceptional but we were equally as poor in the second half.
“I could talk about the game until I’m blue in the face but the fact of the matter is that we lost our individual battles. We did not organise ourselves well enough in free play and we let them dominate the game.
“I have to take responsibility for it, and I will, but it’s deeply disappointing.
“We are not wealthy enough to have luxury players so we need everyone to work for the whole game, but that wasn’t the case. The boys are devastated, as we all are, but you have to take it on the chin.”
On a positive note, the 40-year-old was impressed with the efforts of fit-again duo Dickenson and Ashley Nicholls.
He added: “Ben did ever so well and was a real thorn in their side. Unfortunately he ran out of steam a bit but he has been out for a couple of weeks. The same could be said for Ash, who was exceptional in the first half.”
Dorchester, who are now five points clear of the drop-zone, host Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.
