BRENDON King is hoping more fans flock to the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday when Weymouth meet big-spending Brackley.

The jubilant Terras’ boss saw his side grind out a 1-0 victory over second-placed Oxford City last night, to extend their unbeaten run to four games in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Many students from Budmouth College, together with their parents, helped boost the crowd over the 600-mark and King believes the majority of those would have been impressed with his side’s endeavour and could return to cheer on his team at the weekend.

He said: “It was great to see so many new faces and I’m sure they would have been happy with our work ethic and that this was a decent win against a decent side.

“They can see that the club is buzzing at the moment and we can only hope that they might come back again on Saturday to support us again.”

On the game itself there were a number of top-drawer performances for the boss to ponder but he reserved special praise for match-winner Stephen Reed, who is clearly enjoying his football again.

He added: “Reedy has been superb for us the last few weeks and is a real character in the dressing room. It’s no secret that he’s a big player for us and we want him out there dictating the play.

“There will always be high expectations from the fans for him but he is really delivering now and we need to make the most of that in the coming games.”

King will be without the services of Tom Manley, Craig Duff and Sam Poole against Brackley as the trio begin suspensions following their red cards at Totton.

However, despite that disappointment the manager remains confident looking ahead to Saturday.

He said: “We looked a bit leggy towards the end tonight, which is hardly surprising as we’ve had a lot of hard games of late, especially at Totton.

"But we have had a report on Brackley and although it will be tough it is very winnable and we will be looking to build further on our improved home form.”
