DEPLETED Weyline fell to their first defeat of the Weymouth Sunday League Premiership campaign – surrendering top spot in the process.

The former leaders, who have been replaced at the summit by in-form Rodwell, suffered a 3-1 loss against previously winless Tuatara.

Weyline could only field 10 men at a wind-swept Budmouth and despite missing key personnel themselves, T-Bar quickly gained the upper hand with two goals from John Lamb – the first set up by Richard Camp and the second provided by Matt Camp.

Matters got even worse for Weyline on the stroke of half-time when Danny Dancer pounced, following a goalmouth scramble, to extend the advantage.

Although Weyline managed to pull one back through Ben Mackie on the hour, they failed to further test T-Bar keeper Pete Cowne, despite having the elements in their favour.

The result ends Weyline’s 13-match unbeaten run and sees Rodwell overtake them at the top following their 2-0 victory over Britannia at the Marsh.

Adam Billings was the star of the show as he teed up Marcus Simpson for the opening goal before scoring the second himself after good work from Jimmy Hallett down the wing.

There was also a change at the top in the Championship as Wellworthys returned to the summit with a 9-1 thrashing of the Dolphin.

Four goals from Matt Brown and a single effort from Liam Puckett gave the Wyke outfit a comfortable lead at the break.

Despite missing four key players, Wellworthys were rarely troubled and had star performances in every position, none more so than Dean Richards who claimed three assists.

Three second-half goals from Puckett, and another from Brown, completed Wellworthys’ biggest win of the season.

Elsewhere, Market House got back to winning ways as Bobby Darch hit a hat-trick, and Stuart Holmes also found the target, in a 4-0 win over the Belvedere.
