Upwey & Broadwey 2 BISHOPS CAUNDLE 1 UPWEY & Broadwey continued their rise in the Dorset Senior League with a fourth win on the spin.

Bishops Caundle were the latest victims, despite the visitors taking a shock lead at Redlands.

Chances went begging as the hosts searched for a route back before goals from Sam Nichols and Adam Billings eventually saw the deficit overturned.

Boss Steve Reynolds, whose side sit fourth in the table, three points adrift of top spot but with a game in hand, said: “We’ve kept the run going and the league table is looking a lot more favourable.

“However, we were 1-0 down to an absolute screamer and I couldn’t believe my eyes as we totally dominated the first half and I thought it was going to be one of those days.

“We then had corner after corner before, 15 minutes into the second half, Don Wellman’s header was turned in by Sam Nichols.

“And five or six minutes later, Adam Billings’ towering header, from another corner, made it 2-1.

“They came back into it a bit more after that but towards the end their keeper made a quadruple save, which was extraordinary to say the least.

“Overall the performance was superb but both our goals came from set-pieces, so we need to start scoring more from open play, especially after we beat Chickerell 3-0 the week before when it could have been eight or nine.”

Upwey will be bidding to become the first team to defeat Kingston Lacy this season when they visit Pamphill Village Green on Saturday.
