GIRLS’ football in Weymouth and Portland has received a boost with news that WeySports will be running a Year Four to Six football tournament at Redlands in March for all schools in the area.
The tournament will be on the same day as the boys’ prestigious Nash Cup and will hopefully become a fixture in the calendar for years to come.
As part of the arrangement for schools, Weymouth Ladies’ manager Tim Davis is offering every school three free taster sessions and will assist in setting up an after-school session for those girls selected to represent their school so that they can receive coaching in preparation for the tournament.
It is envisaged that more than 100 new girls will be introduced to the sport as part of the initiative and all those not currently playing football for a team will be offered the opportunity to play for WeySports Girls next season.
Already several schools have booked their taster sessions and after-school club, to join them contact Davis on 07974885259 or email tim_wfc@hotmail.com
