STUART Heath insists there is no room for error tomorrow as his table-topping Blues visit lowly Cranborne (2pm).

Portland United currently hold a one-point lead at the Magna Dorset Premier League summit.

And with “at least four teams” in the running, the islanders cannot afford to let their 14-match unbeaten league run come to an end at the Mick Loader Recreation Ground.

Boss Heath said: “We are in a good position and we can’t afford any slip-ups. Cranborne are a much improved side this season so we are expecting a tough game.

“But the expectation is to stay at the top for as long as we can. I’ve not known a season where we have had at least four teams who are capable of winning the title. It’s very tight but it’s very open.”

Lewis Whyton and Ashley Wells, the subject of a seven-day approach from Weymouth, are both suspended tomorrow while Grant Chance, Chris Reader and Adam Linaker also miss out due to injury and unavailability.

Ross Boatswain and recent signings Alex Grimason and Ben Skelton all come into the fold.

Chickerell United hope to contest their first match this month when Shaftesbury arrive at Weymouth College tomorrow (2pm).

Chickens’ chief Maurice Welch said: “It should be a nice one to come back to but to be fair to Shaftesbury they have been playing better in their last few outings so they have improved.

“They are close to the basement so it’s one we should win but coming back from a two-week lay-off could be a problem. Hopefully it won’t be and we’ll go out all guns blazing.”

Jon Welch is expected to be United’s only absentee.

Jake Richmond is guarding against complacency ahead of Weymouth Reserves’ trip to whipping boys Sherborne Town Reserves (2pm).

The latter have mustered just two points from a possible 72 this season.

And with the Terras buoyed by a run of four games without defeat, the odds are stacked in the visitors’ favour.

However, a cautious Richmond said: “We’ve got a bit of momentum going now and we’ve got a game in hand over the teams directly above us, which if we win will put us above them.

“But we have got to keep the lads’ feet on the ground. Sherborne may only have two points but the lads can’t just think they have only got to turn up in order to win tomorrow.

“They have to be professional and if we can perform like we have done of late then we can get another positive result.

“The only worry is that they might look at the league table and think it’s going to be easy.”

Elsewhere, Bridport Reserves welcome reigning champions Hamworthy Recreation to St Mary’s Field (2pm).

Co-manager Steve Crabb, whose side earned a 5-0 win over Hamworthy United Reserves last Saturday, said: “We are beating the teams we think we should be beating.

“We are not expected to get a great deal from the game on Saturday but we go into it with confidence and if play like we did against Hamworthy United there’s no reason why we can’t get something out of the game.”
