COLIN Tizzard hopes the famous Cheltenham hill once again proves to be Sprinter Sacre’s nemesis as he prepares to take him on with Cue Card next month.

The pair clashed last year in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle when Sprinter Sacre looked all over the winner before fading up the hill to finish third, with Cue Card fourth, behind Al Ferof.

They were on course to meet in the Game Spirit at New-bury’s rearranged meeting last week but Cue Card missed the race due to a minor setback.

With Sprinter Sacre running out an impressive winner, the Milborne Port handler will now take his charge for a racecourse gallop before they clash in the Racing Post Arkle.

“He was completely over it on the Wednesday before the Newbury race on the Friday,” said Tizzard.

“We just had two days to decide after he’d knocked the inside of his joint whether to run or not, the danger was he’d knock it again in the race.

“He didn’t need to run, he’s raced four times, and watching Sprinter Sacre I’ll probably take him for a racecourse gallop this week just to make sure he’s ready.

“I just thought it was a good job we didn’t take him (Sprin-ter Sacre) on at Newbury, you can’t not be impressed by that horse on that track, that day.

“What we’ve got to hope for is that when he hits the hill at Cheltenham he stops, he’s done it before and we hope he does it again.”

Tizzard went on to add: “We didn’t run Cue Card last year after Christmas because our horses weren’t quite right but he’s in very good form now.”
