WEYMOUTH Under-15 Girls combined with North Dorset to play their first competitive fixture against Oakmeadians.

Six players from the seaside club – Terri Biggs, Emma Davis, Alex Hearn, Katy Wilkinson and Imogen and Robyn Parker – made the trip, with three of them having never played before.

It was always going to be a tough match for the combined team, especially against the well established Oaks.

And it was no surprise to see the Oaks control the early stages of the game, running in some good tries through the backs.

As Weymouth and North Dorset started to gel they began putting some phase play together, ending in a well-worked try of their own.

But Oakmeadians regained the initiative and finished with a convincing win.

Coach Nathan Parker said: “This was a great opportunity to introduce and welcome back players. They all rose to the challenge, playing with guts and determination.”

Weymouth Girls train on Wednesday nights (6.30-8pm) and Sunday afternoons (12.30-2pm).
