ST AUGUSTINE'S and St Nicholas & St Laurence were the big winners in the South West Dorset Junior Netball League’s winter fixtures.

Bincombe Valley and St John’s both made welcome returns to the competition and thanks to good weather only one match had to be postponed.

St Augustine’s A were victorious in Division One with their B team also finishing runners-up in Division Two, which was won by newcomers St Nicholas & St Laurence on goal difference.

St Augustine’s B comprised of children in years four and five so for many of them this was their first experience of competitive netball. St Andrew’s came second in Division One.

League organiser June Reed said: “All the children showed great enthusiasm and there were several very closely fought games.

“The league will start again in September and any school who wishes to take part can contact me on 814472.

“Meanwhile, there is also regular coaching at Budmouth Community Sports Centre on Saturday mornings from 9.15am-10.15am where the first session is free. Again call me for more information.”
