WEYMOUTH TANDOORI BANDITS 82 BOURNEMOUTH RAZORS 70

WEYMOUTH Tandoori Bandits recorded back-to-back wins in Solent League Division Two for the first time this season.

Having already defeated the second-from-bottom Bandits earlier this season, the odds were stacked in favour of the third-placed Razors.

However, the hosts made an impressive start at Weymouth College and two baskets from Sam Dodge helped them on their way to a 9-0 lead.

Although slow to respond, the guests closed the gap during the rest of the first quarter, to finish just a point behind going into the break.

The second quarter though belonged to Bournemouth as they outscored the home team to finish the half 40-23 ahead.

Julien Lawes and Ian Manley took the game back to the Razors in the third quarter, scoring a combined 24 points for the Bandits to help them reduce the deficit to five.

The Bandits’ starting five kept the intensity up throughout the fourth and final period, keeping the Razors firmly on the back foot.

Lawes and Manley dominated the scoresheet again and Weymouth went on to secure an 82-70 victory.

Coach Che Osborne said: “It was a great performance, with the seniors’ resolve turning round a tough game for a well deserved win.”

The Bandits are at home again on Monday when they entertain Portsmouth Royal Navy (8.15pm).

Roster/scorers: Julien Lawes 29, Ian Manley 23, Dzintars Kalkis 13, Chris Canham 6, Sam Dodge 5, Brett Dunster 4, Matt Board 2, Carl Carter, Richard Camp, Dan Campbell.
