PETE Bochonko could make a surprise return for Upwey & Broadwey tomorrow when they take on Okeford United at Redlands in the Dorset Senior League (3pm).

The all-action forward, who has been hampered by a hamstring injury recently, was expected to be sidelined until the end of the month but earlier this week he gave Steve Reynolds the thumbs up.

The Upwey boss said: “Pete has told me he is back in contention but I need to talk to him further to see just how fit he is.

“Having him back would be a huge boost because there is no forward better in the league at working a back four.

“He is non-stop and he is clinical too but in terms of tomorrow, we will just have to wait and see.”

The Weymouth outfit slumped to a 4-2 defeat at Witchampton United last time out – a result that put a huge dent in their title hopes.

Reynolds, whose men lie fourth, added: “We are only six points off the top but time is running out and the teams around us have games in hand.

“All we can do is just try and win our remaining five games and see where it takes us.

“Okeford were not a bad side when we beat them at their place earlier in the season so I am expecting another tough game.

“The result will come down to which Upwey team turns up on the day.

“When we are at our best we can beat anyone in this league but over the past few weeks we have been blowing hot and cold.

“There will certainly be changes to the team that lost against Witchampton that is for sure because seven of our players had stinkers that day.

“People need to start pulling their fingers out and this weekend I will be expecting a response.”

One man that will definitely come into the line-up will be Richard Frost.

Reynolds went on to say: “Richard was unavailable for the Witchampton game and it will be great to have him back.

“We have a few pretenders to the throne but there is no doubt he is the best central midfielder at the club and one of the best in the league.”

* Second-bottom Chickerell United Reserves will be out to stop the rot at Blandford United Reserves tomorrow (3pm). The Chickens have lost their last three games in which they have conceded 18 goals. Portland United Reserves and Weymouth Sports are both without games.
