BRIDPORT 1

BRIDPORT extended their unbeaten run to four games as Dan Wise netted the only goal in Bath.

The dead-ball specialist scored from the spot after Matt Condliffe was upended in the home penalty area.

The Bees have now won three on the trot in the Toolstation Western Premier Division, keeping a trio of clean sheets in the process, and are 11 points clear of the bottom two.

Delighted boss Trevor Senior, who returned to the dugout after missing the previous week’s win at Bristol Manor Farm, said: “We played really well and we dominated the first half, going 1-0 up when Matt was brought down in the box and Dan scored the penalty.

“They came at us a bit but we defended really well. We also had other chances and overall it was a really good team performance.

“The work ethic was really good and that’s all you can ask for. If you get that then you have half a chance.

“We’ve now gone four games unbeaten with three wins and a draw. Three of the games have been away from home and our away form has been better than our home form. We’ve also kept three clean sheets in our last three games.”

Asked if he could pin-point the reason behind the Bees’ upturn in fortunes, Senior replied: “I think we have become stronger and we have defended well in the last four games.

“We have also got good competition for places.”

The West Dorset outfit will be looking to continue their fine form tomorrow night when high-flying Merthyr Town visit St Mary’s Field (7.45pm).

Senior, whose men have 32 points to their name this season, added: “I said in October that 40 points would be enough and we are now well on the way to that.

“We have got a big game tomorrow now and hopefully we will get a big crowd.”
