SALWAY Ash School’s netball team enjoyed fantastic success at the Dorset School Games.

Having won through the West Dorset Netball Tournament held at Sir John Colfox School, the team of Josh Frampton , Callum Mullins, George Wyrill, Lauren Rendell, Eloise Matthews, Emily Hendry and Lydia James travelled to Bournemouth where they claimed bronze following some outstanding performances.

Salway won two, drew two and lost one in the group stage which was enough to put them through to the semi-finals where they eventually lost out to the eventual winners but went on to win the third-and-fourth-placed play-off.

The School Games was Dorset’s way of celebrating this summer’s Olympics with many sports being played including tri golf, rugby, table tennis, quad kids and rowing.

The day followed all the traditions of the Games, with both an opening and closing ceremony bringing everyone together.

This latest triumph for Salway has capped off an exceptional year for the school after finishing seventh in the National Schools Swimming Competition in Sheffield.
