WEYMOUTH ladies' veterans took part in a 8.9-mile endurance row on the River Tamar hosted by Cotehele Quay Gig Club.
Racing was from Saltash to Cotehele Quay.
Weymouth competed in the Mixen, a heavier boat than the traditional wooden boats which most other crews used.
Twenty-nine gigs took part and raced in categories, starting at one-minute timed intervals.
The course along the Tamar was hindered by sandbanks and it was a challenging course which the Weymouth cox navigated well.
Weymouth quickly overtook the first crew away and maintained the lead to wing their well deserved trophy, winners of their category in a time of one hour, 12 minutes and 48 seconds.
They were three minutes ahead of the next crew through.
Overall Weymouth finished 11th of 29 in total finishing time for all categories.
Weymouth ladies' captain Lynn Reynolds said: "We would like to congratulate local gig clubs, Poole,Portland, Bridport and Lyme Regis for their great results and thank Cotehele Quay for their brilliant hospitality."
Weymouth Rowing Club welcome new rowers and will be starting new taster sessions from March 2018.
