DORSET lost to Devon by a tiny six-run margin as their NCCA Trophy campaign finished agonisingly short of the quarter-finals.

Callum Haggett (70no) helped Devon compile 170-5 after rain reduced their innings to 44 overs.

Dorset's innings was also interrupted by the elements and after an hour's pause in play, the hosts were reduced to 16-5 as Edward Leonard claimed 4-5 in a devastating four-over bust.

But a gritty 45 from Jacob Gordon almost got Dorset over the line before he looped a catch to wicketkeeper Matthew Thompson on the third-last ball.
