PORTLAND RT 148-6 (19pts) beat WITCHAMPTON 144-9 (6pts) by four wickets

PORTLAND Red Triangle made it three wins on the bounce with a four-wicket win over Witchampton at Reforne.

Matt Randell's men have put together their best run of the season in County Division One after the derby loss to Weymouth early in July.

Young seamer Eddie Moles was key to the victory, tearing through the Witches' batting with 3-48.

He was supported by Randell, who claimed 3-16 with only Martin Ashford (35) and Stewart Hibberd (28) able to resist as Witchampton closed on 144-9.

The victory target of 145 proved easily with Portland's reach despite 3-24 from opening bowler Harrison Bowles.

Tim Forshaw (37no) helped guide the hosts home after good contributions from Randell (20), Matt Barrett (19) and Dave Adkins (16).

Speaking to Echosport, Randell said: "It was another good team performance, certainly with the ball.

"We started off really well, Eddie seems to have really settled into that role and when he gets it right it seems to be unplayable.

"We were probably a little unfortunate not to have bowled them out a little cheaper.

"We dropped a few catches and at one point I think we could've had them 70 or 80 all out and had a nice easy chase.

We let them get up to 140 – sometimes lower chases can be a bit tricky but we just tried to be as positive as we could.

"That seemed to have just paid off quite nicely."
