PUDDLETOWN 84-4 (19pts) beat WITCHAMPTON 83 by six wickets

PUDDLETOWN rounded off their title-winning County Division One year with a six-wicket win over 10-man Witchampton at Plush.

Adam Barrett’s men bowled the Witches out for 83 – the sixth time Puddle have dismissed a team for under 100 this season.

Witchampton fared better in this fixture than the reverse game as they were bulldozed for 50.

Callum Chaldecott sent the ash crashing with 4-43, while Adam Weir (2-3) and Dave Morris (2-16) also did damage.

Puddletown’s chase was guided by Matt Porter (42) before Steve Chaldecott (14no) hit the winning runs.

“It was nice to end the season with a win after a run of three straight loses. It was a good performance with the ball to skittle them for just 83.

“With the bat, we changed the order around a bit and it was good to see some of the younger lads take their chance and score some runs.

“Overall, we can be very proud of our achievements this season in winning the Division One title by 20 points.

“The plan is to now take a well-earned break over the winter and return fully refreshed ready to fight for survival in the Premier League in 2022.

“I would like to pass on my thanks to Mel Cross for scoring our games again this season, he’s a club legend and it’s very much appreciated.”
