CHESHIRE 385-8 lead DORSET 33-2 by 352 runs

DORSET once more have work to do as Cheshire built a big lead on day one of their NCCA Championship clash at Wimborne.

Dorset captain Luke Webb lost the toss and Cheshire elected to bat first, rebuilding well after Ollie Breckon (1-68) pinned Sam Perry (7) lbw.

Henry Dobson added 30 before he was castled by Simon Woodruff (2-75) but Cheshire continued to accumulate.

Ali Chughtai (64) and the county's top runscorer this season, Robert Sehmi (73) both cracked half-centuries.

But Matt King (2-63) fought back with a brace while David Scott (2-116) removed Sehmi as Dorset stemmed Cheshire's innings at 194-5.

However, Cheshire blasted another 191 runs in the latter part of their innings, chiefly thanks to a brutal 88 not out from number seven batter Nick Anderson, who crashed 12 fours and a six.

Andrew Jackson (30) and Chris Sanders (25) then smacked two sixes each as Cheshire's tail wagged to help post 385-8 from 90 overs.

With ball in hand, Sanders then struck twice in one over as Dorset's first innings began poorly.

Sanders (2-16) ousted Webb (3) - whose struggles with the bat continued - and Joe Eckland (0) to leave Dorset on 5-2.

The hosts did fight back with the aggression of Sam Young (20no), who will be accompanied by Oli Soames (5no) on day two as Dorset closed on 33-2.

It leaves Dorset chasing the game for the final two days, as so often has happened in recent seasons.
