DORCHESTER Sports manager Ashley James has admitted his side “have to be at it” as they prepare for their away trip to last year’s Dorset Premier League champions Holt United.

Sports currently sit top of the league on 31 points while Holt have 27 and are down in seventh but Sports are on a good run of form, having won their last five games in all competitions.

James said: “There’s no room for anyone dropping off because we have got to be at it on Saturday, but if we do that and play like we have done in the past five games and score some of the goals that we have done we know we can cause an upset.”

Holt won the league last year but the two sides have already faced this season, which resulted in a 5-2 win for Sports at the Avenue back in September.

James said: “We know that they are champions from last year and they don’t really lose on their ground but we have beaten them already this year 5-2 at the Avenue so that will give us massive confidence that we can go there to their place and do it again.”

While Sports are top of the table other teams, like Holt, can go above if they win their games in hand.

James is aware of this but isn’t focusing on it, as he said: “We know three or four teams have got games in hand on us and they can go above us if they win the matches but they have got to win them.

“All we can do is keep winning our games and take it a game at a time, which we have done in the last three or four games and we will just see.”

Ultimately the team can take confidence from their form, as James says: “I think over the last five games where we have won all five I think each game has given us that little bit extra confidence.”
