BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker fears a huge fixture backlog in April ahead of his side’s trip to Wellington in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

With the Bees’ Boxing Day clash at home to Street postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Bridport still have 22 games to play in just four months.

However, Fricker’s men currently have no scheduled midweek games during January, meaning an excess of matches will likely spill over deep into the season.

Speaking to Echosport about the scheduling dilemma, Fricker said the club’s lack of games also unfairly reflects on them in the league table.

He said: "We knew Christmas Day that the (Street) game was going to be in doubt. It’s frustrating because we can’t seem to get any consistency of games with the amount of postponements we’ve had.

“It’s looking like April is going to be a very busy month for us. We’re 10th in the table and it’s not a true reflection of where we’re at.

“We’re going to have about 10 games in April, which has its own challenges. It does become difficult when you’re playing teams who are not really playing for anything.”

Commenting on his side’s trip to the 16th-placed Tangerines, Fricker believes the Bees will need to be alert to avoid a repeat of their 3-2 defeat to Wellington earlier in the season.

He said: “It was probably our most disappointing performance of the season, so we’ll certainly have to be on our toes.

“It’s a tough place to go, the pitch is on a bit of a slope. They’ve had some good and poor results but if we play like we did against Willand we won’t be too far away.”

Kameron Andrews is a major doubt with a recurrence of ankle tendonitis, but Louis Rutter (knee) is expected to be fit.
