SCOTT Gannon secured a shot at the blind pairs final after the finals were secured for both the singles cup and blind pairs in the Weymouth ADC Darts League.

With seven confirmed to battle it out for the league title three players have added their name to the finals night and Mel Burton and Danny Aplin will make an extra appearance in the singles cup and blind pairs.

Paul Dormer will partner up with Aplin against Mel Burton and Gannon in the final of the blind pairs which is a coup for Gannon, who finished 18th in the league, and will have a chance to play in the final and take the pairs title.

Chris Burton will go head to head with his brother Mel Burton in the singles cup after he produced some fantastic darts which saw him put out top of the table Danny Aplin in the semi-final with a great 4-3 success, which once again proved anyone can beat anyone on the night in this new league.

Chris Burton earned a 4-2 win in round one against Gannon and a 4-2 success over Nigel Davies in the next to claim a semi-final spot and then his victory over Aplin saw him reach the finals night.

Brother Mel, who will be at the finals after his fourth place finish in the league, won his first match 4-0 against Wayne Jordan and then his second 4-1 against Adam McKay which set up a semi-final with Dormer in another match that went the distance, but saw Burton take the deciding leg and a 4-3 win.

Paul Paice, one of the organisers and committee members and who finished 12th in the league, said: “At first we did not really know what to expect with the new league as there was a lot of opposition but being where we are now we could not have dreamed it would have been as good as it has been.

“Already there is interest from players in other leagues, not just in Weymouth but Dorchester, Poole and even Bournemouth which just goes to show how popular it is. With this in mind we have already extended the summer division and possibly looking to make it even bigger in the not so distant future”.

ADC finals night will be at the Weymouth Angling Club on Friday, March 16 and doors open at 7pm with play to start at 7.30pm.
